Bus/Tram

Bus / Tram – Zagreb’s public transportation system is called ZET, short for Zagrebački Električni Tramvaj. It is made up primarily of buses and trams that run throughout the city and go beyond to neighboring cities including Velika Gorica (where the airport is located). There are 133 bus lines that operate in Zagreb.

Meanwhile, trams have existed in Zagreb since 1891.  This has always been a major mode of public transportation here, and still is (along with buses) – making them the unofficial symbol of the city.  Zagreb’s tram network includes 15 day trams and 4 night trams that cover over 120 km of track.  Day trams run from 4:00 am to midnight, while night trams run during the remaining “graveyard shift” hours.

Tickets for both buses and trams can be bought on board (10 kuna) or at newsstands (8 kuna). Make sure that you stamp your ticket once you board: an unstamped ticket is as good as no ticket at all! Daily (unlimited tickets are available at a price of 30 kuna.

For those who are tech-savvy, those who have a Croatian SIM card can purchase a ticket by texting “ZG” to the number “8585”.  Within a minute, you’ll get an electronic ticket!
